About - TASAL

Background and Purpose

"Taiwan Assessment of Student Achievement Longitudinal Study (TASAL)" is an important project funded by the Ministry of Education. It aims to investigate students' performance in core competencies to understand the implementation status of the curriculum guidelines and the factors influencing learning and growth. This project also collaborates with the TIGPS. It invites principals/school administrators, teachers, and parents/family members to participate in the questionnaire surveys to depict the current situation of parent-teacher involvement, teaching/school strategies, family dynamics, and other factors under digitalization. This project aims to establish an important foundation for future curriculum and policy planning.

Research Framework and Issues

Participants and Methods

The participants are 7th-grade students who enrolled in September 2022. They will be continuously tracked when they progress to 8th grade in 2023 and 9th grade in 2024. The current plan is a three-year program, with the intention to extend the tracking to high school. In addition, principals/school administrators, teachers, and parents/family members will also complete questionnaires in each participating year. All participants are expected to complete the surveys online.
