There are different options for the invited guest to obtain a visa to enter Taiwan: - Foreigners intending to participate in an international conference held in Taiwan may apply for visas at an ROC Embassy, Consulate or Mission with the invitation letter issued by the sponsoring organizations.
- Nationals from countries eligible for visa-exempt program, which allows visitors to stay up 14 days without visa may choose to enter Taiwan under that program. Related information can be accessed by clicking visa-exempt program.
- Nationals from countries eligible for landing visas, which allows visitors to stay up to 30 days in Taiwan can enter the country in that way. Related information can be accessed by clicking landing visa.
- Participants with travel documents issued by Hong Kong, Macao, or Mainland China must present their entry applications to the Bureau of Entry and Exit, National Police Administration, Ministry of the Interior.
- If there is no ROC Embassy or Mission where the participant lives, the host organization can forward information on the participant including the name, nationality, birth date, passport number and where the participant wishes to pick the visa to the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at least one month before the participant's proposed date of entry into Taiwan.
- If the participant has difficulties getting a visa due to lack of ROC consular services, the host organization may file a petition for the participant to establish eligibility for a landing visa. The host organization must file the petition with the BOCA at least 3 business days before the participant's proposed date of entry to Taiwan. The host organization should provide related information to the BOCA about the participant including name, birth date, passport number, and flight itinerary. The BOCA visa office at C.K.S. International Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport will notify the airlines to allow boarding of the applicant, who must apply for a landing visa upon arrival at the C.K.S. International Airport. For those who enter through Kaohsiung International Airport, they can take the temporary entry permit issued by the Kaohsiung Station of the Aviation Police Bureau, National Police Administration, and change the permit to a visa at the B.O.C.A. or its Kaohsiung Office within 3 days after arrival. The host organization should also remind the applicants of the following required documents for landing visa.

| - Aliens who enter the Republic of China through the visa-exemption program may, before the expiration of the stay, apply for a 30 days' single-entry visitor visa, which is not extendable. Application shall be made to the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its branch offices in Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualien.
- Requirements are as follows:(1)a valid passport with two photos, (2)confirmed air tickets, (3)visa fee of NT$1,200(citizens of countries with reciprocal agreements shall be issued visas gratis) plus a handling fee of NT$ 800; for U.S. citizens: visa processing fee of NT$3,600 plus a handling fee of NT$800.
- The 30 days' duration of stay starts from the next day of arrival and is not extendable.

| - Passengers entering the Republic of China through the C.K.S. International Airport may apply for a landing visa at the Visa Office of Consular Affairs Bureau at the C.K.S. International Airport.
- Passengers eligible for visa-exemption program may enter the Republic of China through the Kaohsiung International Airport, and then apply for a 30 days' single-entry visitor visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its branch offices in Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualien( see Visa-Exempt Entry).
- Passengers who enter the Republic of China through the Kaohsiung International Airport but are not eligible for visa-exemption program shall apply for a "temporary entry permit" at the Kaohsiung Aviation Police Station for temporary permits. These passengers must change the permit to a visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs or its Kaohsiung Office within three days, or will be subjected to administrative penalty for overstaying.
